From March 23rd- May 6th, DRAGON LIGHTS - Illuminating the Fairpark comes to the Utah State Fairpark with brand new light sculptures, more exciting performances and lots more fun and cultural experience!

CULTURE

The DRAGON LIGHTS - Illuminating the Fairpark will light up the Utah State Fairpark with 39 larger-than-life illuminated displays crafted by Chinese artisans. Our team of artisans hail from Zigong, Sichuan, China’s cultural capital for the ancient art of lantern-making.

In addition to lanterns, nightly performances, and handicrafts, the event will also offer food and beverages. Our menu includes a variety of Chinese and traditional fair food, as well as assorted beverages.

Performance Times:

Sunday-Thursday: Stage Performances: 6:30, 8:30PM

Friday & Saturday: 6:30, 8:00, 9:00 PM

Performances are included in festival admission.

Chinese Lanterns

Dragon Lights - Illuminating the Fairpark brings thrilling entertainment and ancient Chinese culture to life during this 7 week event.

Traditional Handicrafts

Visitors also get a chance to see how some of the most popular Chinese handicrafts are made at the festival. Handicraft demonstration this year includes inner bottle painting, iron wire weaving, sugar painting, and handmade windmill making.

Nightly Performances

Our Chinese performers have decades of experience and offer a glimpse of Chinese stage culture. Some traditional Chinese acts featured include: vase balancing, Meteor (juggling), Diabolo (Chinese Yoyo), hat juggling, and plate spinning.

  • Where is this event being held and is there parking available?

    The DRAGON LIGHTS - Illuminating the Fairpark is being held within the Utah State Fairpark, located at 155 1000 W, Salt Lake City, UT 84116.

  • Is parking available?

    There is ample parking on site, and festival parking is $5. Parking is cash only.

  • Where can I purchase tickets?

    Tickets will be available for purchase at the festival entrance or online. Advance purchase of tickets is recommended.

  • What does the price of admission include?

    Admission includes entry into the festival for viewing all lanterns, authentic Chinese performances, and handicraft demonstrations. Merchandise and food are sold separately.

  • Do I need to purchase tickets in advance?

    You may either buy tickets in advance online or at the entrance. To avoid ticket lines on more crowded days, it is recommended to purchase tickets in advance but it is not required.

  • Are there any discounts available?

    Yes, we offer additional discounts to groups, seniors and college students. On Thursdays we offer college students (a valid ID is required and the discount is only available at the door) $15 entry.

    We offer group discounts for parties of 15 or more. Tickets discounted for groups cost $15 per adult and $10 per youth. For group tickets, please email tickets@tianyuculture.com.

  • What are the festival hours?

    The festival is open nightly from 5:30 to 10:00PM. The ticket booth opens at 5:00pm and closes at 9:30pm.

  • Is this an indoor or outdoor event?

    This is an outdoor event - rain, snow or shine. Please check current weather conditions for your visit and dress appropriately.

  • Inclement Weather Policy

    Tianyu Arts & Culture, Inc. festivals are outdoor events and will periodically encounter inclement weather conditions. Festivals are subject to cancellation or postponements. In cases of cancellation or postponements, tickets will be honored on any remaining festival date. Refunds are not offered when inclement weather forces the cancellation or postponement of the festival.

  • What is your ticket policy?

    Tickets can be purchased both online and at the door at the same price. Online tickets are good for any day during the festival and can be used once only. All ticket sales are final and no refund is provided. In case of inclement weather when the festival must be cancelled or close early, rain checks will be offered.

  • Is everything cash only?

    Of course not! We take both cash and credit at ticket booth, souvenir shops and food vendors. We will have ATMs available too.

  • Do I have to print my online ticket?

    We can scan the ticket off your phone but it is recommended that you print your tickets. You can print it on both sides!

  • Is there anything I cannot bring to the festival?

    No pets, large moving vehicles, or weapons will be allowed. The walking paths are wheelchair and stroller-friendly. Both wheelchairs and strollers are always allowed in the park.
